Esther Ko, LCSW

Hi, I'm Esther!

Therapy is often sought after a major life transition or stressor occurs. However, there are myriad benefits to seeking support in the process of change or uncertainty. Perhaps you've noticed a shift in your mood, sleep, or appetite, or you've found yourself feeling tired, worried, and overwhelmed.

As a Licensed Psychotherapist, I hope to support you in the process of examining the deeper issues that are affecting you as an individual, in relationships, or at school/work. It is my goal to provide a nonjudgmental space in order to learn about you, and to help you explore unresolved issues, increase self-awareness, recognize behavioral patterns, improve conflict-resolution skills, provide alternative perspectives, and find strength and healing. Using a multimodal approach, I help clients reach their goals by integrating client-centered, cognitive behavioral, attachment-based, and psychodynamic theories while being mindful of systemic and environmental factors.

I received my master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from USC, and completed my undergraduate studies in Psychology at UCLA. I have experience providing crisis interventions and working in community mental health agencies, primarily in the Skid Row area. I also have a strong background in psychology research, examining the interconnection of stress, culture, and mental health. As a second-generation Korean American, I strive to be culturally attuned and incorporate research findings when providing mental health services.

When I’m not working, I enjoy trying new food, reading, running, learning martial arts, and traveling (although this one will be on hold for a while!).
