JUDIE GONZALEZ, AMFT #130033
Therapist

Judie Gonzalez

Hi, I'm Judie.

I have passion for lending a helping hand. As first generation Latina and a daughter of immigrants, I firsthand understand that taking the first step to therapy may be difficult. I feel society has created a stigma around mental health therefore, my approach is to work in collaboration with my clients to figure out the best suited approach for their  personal development because after all this is their journey. Working together we can decide what treatment approach is most beneficial for you. I offer a safe, nonjudgmental and empathetic environment that fosters self reflection to support and encourage your personal transformations and learn ways that will work for you.

I believe it is important for others to understand, that I am a  human being as well, I am a mother, a wife, a daughter and a sister. I believe that we are the result of every experience in life, whether it was a good one or a bad one. Over the course of our lifetime’s journey, we may have developed habits and gained perspectives that have helped us to get by and cope with things experiences such  as traumatic experiences, suffering, depression, anxiety, and parenting that may have led to dysfunctional patterns of coping skills. However, when those old coping skills no longer serve us, it may be time to allow another person to walk alongside you, to help guide you  and discover new ways to cope with life’s challenges.

As a new clinician, I had the honor to do my practicum at a Los Angels County DMH sub-contracted agency and provided services to a wide variety of children, adolescents, individuals and families. I have worked with survivors of sexual abuse, generational trauma, immigration trauma, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, OCD, PTSD and ADHD. The typical modalities I used were TF CBT, CBT, Attachment Theory, mindfulness and family systems. I have over 18 years of experience in the education field and now helping others as a clinician is an honor for me. I understand life challenges, adjustments, and losses one might feel as part of the acculturation process, and not to mention the uncertainty that we have collectively experienced due to the Pandemic.
I earned my second Masters degree in MFT Trauma Studies, and my practicum training in the midst of the pandemic. I am able to empathize on the hardship and challenges we all collectively suffered from this Pandemic. In addition I have a BA in Human Development with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education and it would be an honor and privilege to work along side of you.
