THERAPIST | LMFT #102218

Hi, I'm Colleen.

Are you feeling alone, misunderstood, unmotivated, or perhaps struggle to find purpose? Or maybe you are experiencing conflict and/or unresolved issues in your relationship with your partner or family. Whether your hardships stem from feelings of anxiety, depression, trauma, poor body image, or other factors that get in the way of your daily routine, it would be my pleasure to work with you. Together we can develop helpful coping tools, learn new insights, uncover hidden strengths, reframe negative thoughts, improve communication skills, and develop therapeutic rapport to work through current struggles.

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and received my Masters’ in Counseling from Cal State Fullerton in 2015 and became licensed in 2016. During my studies I conducted my thesis on the psychological effects of adult children of alcoholics, which motivated me to further my research and practice into treating depression, anxiety, and other behavioral issues that so many of us endure daily. I am passionate about the practice of mindfulness, meditation, and whole person wellness. These practices help us gain a sense of self awareness and an understanding of our body’s reaction to outside stressors while increasing emotional well-being.

Throughout the years I have worked in a school for children with disabilities, as well as clients in family counseling, those with minimal to severe mental illness, substance use, struggles with self-image including eating disorders, LGBTQ, trauma survivors and PTSD, personality disorders, and more, all in an outpatient setting.  In addition, I believe an important part of recovery is to understand our family of origin and the unconscious impact they have had on our lives and how they have helped shape who we are today. This can increase our understanding of how we feel about ourselves and our relationships. I believe it is important to have compassion for everyone, while withholding judgment to create a safe environment for clients to heal and grow.

I often utilize modalities such as psychodynamic, CBT,  family centered, EMDR, and whole person centered approaches with clients depending on their individual needs. It is my goal to help increase hope, self-awareness, and  support you in achieving your therapy goals while attaining the quality of life you seek. No matter what your needs are, I very much look forward to working with you and building a trusting therapeutic relationship.
