It's hard to choose a therapist just by looking at a few paragraphs. Therapy is an intimate, professional relationship; it is like no other relationship. You make an appointment with a stranger to sit down to talk about difficult emotions and personal struggles. You will probably be feeling nervous and vulnerable, which is entirely normal.

The best therapeutic relationship is one where the therapist can make you feel less anxious and vulnerable. That is when you can look at your past, present, or future struggles and worries and make changes to live a more peaceful and fulling life. I want to provide you a secure environment that you feel free to talk about your life. The therapeutic relationship should be judgment-free, one in which you do not have to worry about hurting anyone's feelings. Therapy

is your time to talk about the things you need to talk about without the concern of anyone else's emotions. These are the reasons that make this relationship different from the others in your life. Therapy is not always fun and definitely not always easy. But, I believe that laughter and easy conversations can also be pleasant and rewarding.

Through our work together, my goal is to empower you. You will learn how to embrace the complications of daily living to create an intentional and purpose-filled life. My approach to counseling could be described as holistic, integrative, and strengths-based. Creativity and humor are always welcome in my practice. I utilize various effective evidence-based approaches based on individual needs and preferences including, narrative, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and play therapy.

I received my Master's degree from Californian Lutheran University in 2019. I have experience working with children, young adults, and the elderly. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading, making home improvements, and exploring new places in my spare time.

COLLEEN SALDANA

Therapist, LMFT #102218

Location: Telehealth

Accepted Insurances: Kaiser, MHN, Most PPO Plans as Out-Of-Network

Specializations:

Adults, Couples, Anxiety, Depression, Trauma and PTSD, Body Image, OCD, Communication Skills, Mindfulness, Substance Use, LGBTQ+

Are you feeling alone, misunderstood, unmotivated, or perhaps struggle to find purpose? Or maybe you are experiencing conflict and/or unresolved issues in your relationship with your partner or family. Whether your hardships stem from feelings of anxiety, depression, trauma, poor body image, OCD, or other factors that get in the way of your daily routine, it would be my pleasure to work with you. Together we can develop helpful coping tools, learn new insights, uncover hidden strengths, reframe negative thoughts, improve communication skills, and develop therapeutic rapport to work through current struggles.

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and received my Masters’ in Counseling from Cal State Fullerton in 2015 and became licensed in 2016. During my studies I conducted my thesis on the psychological effects of adult children of alcoholics, which motivated me to further my research and practice into treating depression, anxiety, OCD,  and other behavioral issues that so many of us endure daily. I am passionate about the practice of mindfulness, meditation, and whole person wellness. These practices help us gain a sense of self awareness and an understanding of our body’s reaction to outside stressors while increasing emotional well-being.

Throughout the years I have worked in a school for children with disabilities, as well as clients in family counseling, those with minimal to severe mental illness, substance use, struggles with self-image including eating disorders, LGBTQ, trauma survivors and PTSD, personality disorders, and more, all in an outpatient setting.  In addition, I believe an important part of recovery is to understand our family of origin and the unconscious impact they have had on our lives and how they have helped shape who we are today. This can increase our understanding of how we feel about ourselves and our relationships. I believe it is important to have compassion for everyone, while withholding judgment to create a safe environment for clients to heal and grow.

I often utilize modalities such as psychodynamic, CBT,  family centered, EMDR, and whole person centered approaches with clients depending on their individual needs. It is my goal to help increase hope, self-awareness, and  support you in achieving your therapy goals while attaining the quality of life you seek. No matter what your needs are, I very much look forward to working with you and building a trusting therapeutic relationship.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 20+ years of experience in the field of behavioral and mental health, having worked with infants, as an Early Interventionist, and then therapist, working with children, adolescents, adults and elder adults. I’ve provided mental health support to Veterans and Combat Vets suffering PTSD and Military Sexual Trauma (MST).  I have provided pro bono therapy to Veterans of the Iraq and Afghan Wars, along with their family and friends through the Soldier’s Project.  I’ve worked in community mental health, providing contracted mental health services with Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties, and most recently with the High Desert Vet Center in San Bernardino County.

It’s important that you feel that you can share your experience with me without judgement. To be a mental health clinician is a calling. I believe it’s not just our emotional and mental health that is important, but it includes our physical and spiritual health as well, they all have to work together for us to be healthy. I am also a Reiki Practitioner and I use energy psychology to help people become more attune to their own energy and how it can affect those around them, not just themselves. I believe we all have the power to make changes and to be the change we wish to become; we just need to get out of our own way and allow the process to happen.

Self Care is important to me. I am a writer. I enjoy spending time with my friends, family and fiancé and my dogs.

I'm so glad you are reaching out. You can’t change what’s happened in the past, but you can change the future. My goal is to work together with you and/or your child to better understand and resolve issues causing distress. We will use a combination of psychodynamic and cognitive-based therapy interventions to look at behavior patterns and negative perceptions that are impeding positive relationships and a more fulfilling life. If you’re looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you’re just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals.

Parents, if you are struggling with a child’s difficult or disruptive behavior, you are likely feeling very frustrated and helpless. I love giving parents the tools they need to turn things around and help them enjoy their children again. Research has shown that teaching parents specific interventions is the most effective way to change a child’s behavior, as they can repeat them over and over as behaviors occur. Interventions are tailored to your specific household.

I am a First-Generation Asian American, cisgender woman identified therapist. My personal relationship with therapy stems from my life-long journey in deconstructing and understanding my identity as well as the necessity to have my choices and behaviors authentically align with my values and purpose(s) in life. Specializations:

Tweens/Teens, Adults, Trauma, Substance Use, Anxiety, Depression, Domestic Violence, Chronic Medical Issues

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who started in the field in order to help people heal.  Everyone goes through things in their lives that change them in a way that they can’t go back to the person they used to be.  While some of these things can be positives, oftentimes, they are negative and we carry those effects with us.

I have worked with a variety of individuals from varied backgrounds who have been in some very tough positions.  I have experience working with individuals who are homeless; who are involved in the criminal justice system; and most recently, those facing issues with substance use disorders.  Common to a great many of these individuals, however, is trauma.  Trauma does not discriminate: we are all susceptible to it.

While trauma and substance use are my main fields, I have over ten years of experience working with victims and survivors of domestic violence, and individuals facing chronic medical issues.  I work with tweens, teens and adults, including older adults.

In my spare time, I write fiction, I enjoy being outdoors by the ocean, I love cooking and, in more stable times, I play ice hockey.  I have also coached youth ice hockey since 2013. Did I mention I’m also a little bit of a science geek?

It is difficult to reach out for help when we live in a world where we always have to be strong, fearless, and show no emotion. Many of us grow up in households where we are taught not to cry, not to complain, and “move-on” with our lives, even when something tragic happens. I am here to tell you, you don’t always have to show a “tough” face. It’s okay to show emotions and to cry after a long day. We all have a story to tell, and I am here to listen to your story. In therapy we will process difficult situations that have happened in your life, in a safe space without judgment.

As a therapist I have experience in working with school aged children, adolescents, young adults, and older adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, and anger management. I also have experience in crisis intervention and working with clients and their families in safety planning. I utilize different interventions to guide clients in self-discovery, problem solving, and strive to make a positive change in their mood and behaviors.

I use different approaches in therapy to help clients reach their goals. It can range from using different theories such as attachment based, strengths based, and psychodynamic. I will also use cognitive behavioral therapy to challenge negative thinking patterns and help you see the bigger picture. I am very humanistic in my work and will use interventions that will help clients discover awareness, acceptance, and find meaning in their life.

Finding relief from the pain that brought you to therapy is often a private, emotional, and challenging experience.  A non-judgmental and supportive therapy style that's balanced with directness and honesty can go a long way in keeping you engaged and finding the relief you seek. One of the most rewarding experiences I get as a therapist is being invited to join with the client in those challenging places because I know how hard it is to trust.

I work with clients across the victim spectrum (clients who have harmed others to those who have been victimized).  The issues I've had the most success treating has been trauma (EMDR fully trained), PTSD, power and control issues, substance abuse, intimate partner and family violence/maltreatment, youth and adult male issues, and anger.

My love for psychology and helping others started as a way for me to understand my own pain and the mistakes that followed.  It's been liberating to experience my own changes through this work and an honor to see the strength that people find within themselves when I work with them.  I love to laugh, debate philosophy, run, practice yoga, and spend time with my wife and children.

Another night at home. Initially sheltering in place may not have been so bad, but the longer it goes on without the availability of your natural outlets --like the gym, friends, or nights out--things may have become harder. Perhaps you may be having thoughts or anxieties about the future. Or maybe this space has given you more time to think about your past. You don’t have to do this alone. I am here. We can do this together. Whether the discomfort is newly spurred by the pandemic or this feeling has been a lifelong companion, I can help you become grounded, find meaning, and experience peace.

I’m a personable, collaborative, and compassionate therapist who specializes in grief and loss, anxiety, and life transitions. My approach consists of creating an environment where you feel safe to communicate your feelings while feeling unconditionally understood and supported to discover the answers and solutions you are seeking.

I earned my masters in social work from Virginia Commonwealth University.  In my spare time I enjoy reading, traveling, and being physically active.

Everyone has a unique story to tell and life's journey to go on. I believe in the power of therapy work because it allows us to have the platform to share those stories and build strength and resiliency to navigate through our journeys.

Oftentimes, people come to therapy because they may feel “stuck” or have difficulty seeing past their ongoing life obstacles. As a marriage and family therapist, I see therapy as a collaborative process where you are the expert to your story while my role is to serve as a guide to help you uncover and process your inner strengths and potentials. It is a time where you will learn more about yourself and how you relate to the people, places, and things you encounter in your daily life. It is also a time where you may make adjustments in order to achieve better quality of life. I utilize a strength-based and person-centered approach in my sessions to create a safe and genuine environment for you to be heard. I look forward to meeting and walk alongside you, as you take your steps towards growth and healing.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of California and New York. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Connecticut and my Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seton Hall University. I have been working with children, adults, and families for over 10 years across a variety of treatment settings including community mental health services, outpatient substance abuse, and private practice.

Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, sports, and spending time outdoors with my husband, son, and labradoodle.

Like everyone, I have struggled in my life to find my way. My struggles led me
to seek help from therapists who showed me how to access my own internal
wisdom, calm my own mind and marshal my own resources for healing. I became a therapist so I could help others find their own healing power and be able to live their best lives.

My background as a therapist includes work with children and adolescents
on the Autism Spectrum as well as with adult and geriatric individuals dealing with mood dysregulation and life transition issues. I utilize mindfulness practice and Cognitive Behavioral strategies along with Motivational Interviewing to guide clients in building their own toolbox for self care and positive change.

meditation and creating wearable fiber art with silk and wool.

Hello, I'm Christine and I'm so glad you're here!

I am a licensed psychotherapist and have been practicing therapy for over a decade. I love doing therapy because it works! When you share deep inner struggles, thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a safe therapeutic space, healing and growth happen. I've seen this time after time in my own practice.

I specialize in helping individuals who struggle with anxiety, perfectionism, and high-achieving working professionals and entrepreneurs. If you are one of them, you often also struggle with intense anxiety around performance, are highly critical of yourself, and have difficulty with work and life balance. I can help you cultivate a healthier relationship with yourself and your work, resulting in greater happiness, self-compassion and inner peace.

I also specialize in working with couples who feel distant and disconnected, struggling with emotional disconnect, communication issues, and life transitions. If you feel stuck in a cycle of interaction with your significant other that leaves you feeling distant, unsatisfied and unhappy, you don't have to stay there. Working from an attachment standpoint, I can help you identify the root cause of your unhealthy relational patterns and help you feel closer and connected with your significant other.

Aside from being a psychotherapist, I am a wife and mother of three beautiful boys. In my personal time, I love to read on my Kindle and play with my boys at the park.

CARISSA VELASQUEZ

Intake Care Coordinator

213-441-6780 opt. 2

I was born in Porterville, California and relocated to Los Angeles in 2015 to attend the University of Southern California, where I obtained a B.A. in political science. Growing up, I struggled heavily with anxiety and during my last year at USC, I worked at the Office of Religious Life where I was able to take classes in mindfulness. It was then that I discovered my love for meditation, yoga, and holistic health. I am now fully motivated to help others on their path to bettering their own mental health.

As a care coordinator at Abundance, I love to talk to clients about their emotional needs and therapeutic preferences so that I can find the right therapist for each individual. On behalf of our practice, I reach out to prospective clients, schedule intake appointments, manage the availability of our therapists and support the office in administrative tasks. As Care Coordinators, we are the first point of contact for any new clients. We coordinate the intake process through screening new referrals, handling intake forms, scheduling new intakes, keeping client demographic info up to date, and assisting with any scheduling changes/reschedules.

In the next few years I plan to become a certified yoga and meditation instructor, and get a master’s degree in clinical psychology with a spiritual emphasis. In my free time I enjoy reading philosophy, journaling, hiking, and spending time in nature.
