I am a First-Generation Asian American, cisgender woman identified therapist. My personal relationship with therapy stems from my life-long journey in deconstructing and understanding my identity as well as the necessity to have my choices and behaviors authentically align with my values and purpose(s) in life. Being First-Generation born has been given me experiences in navigating the cultural “in-between” spaces, leading me to wonder where I belong, seek meaningful relationships, and evaluate how I relate to others. Much of my dedicated practice with each client incorporates deepening self exploration/awareness, integrating parts of the “self”, exploring their purpose, and evaluating the impact of cultural influences and systems of oppression.

I earned my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California. My clinical experience includes providing community and school-based therapy to high school teens and families with Counseling Partners of Los Angeles as well as Drake Institute providing treatment for behavioral and stress-related disorders. I have also earned my Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Advocate Training Certification with Center for the Pacific Asian Family. My therapeutic style has a foundation of being strength-based, culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and from a place of hope. Theoretical frameworks includes existential, humanistic, cognitive-behavioral, family systems, and solution-focused.

Thank you for trusting me with this process and I look forward to our work together to bring forth more clarity, authenticity, and intentionality into your life.

Location: LA office, Telehealth

Specializations:

Tweens/Teens, Adults, Trauma, Substance Use, Anxiety, Depression, Domestic Violence, Chronic Medical Issues

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who started in the field in order to help people heal.  Everyone goes through things in their lives that change them in a way that they can’t go back to the person they used to be.  While some of these things can be positives, oftentimes, they are negative and we carry those effects with us.

I have worked with a variety of individuals from varied backgrounds who have been in some very tough positions.  I have experience working with individuals who are homeless; who are involved in the criminal justice system; and most recently, those facing issues with substance use disorders.  Common to a great many of these individuals, however, is trauma.  Trauma does not discriminate: we are all susceptible to it.

While trauma and substance use are my main fields, I have over ten years of experience working with victims and survivors of domestic violence, and individuals facing chronic medical issues.  I work with tweens, teens and adults, including older adults.

In my spare time, I write fiction, I enjoy being outdoors by the ocean, I love cooking and, in more stable times, I play ice hockey.  I have also coached youth ice hockey since 2013. Did I mention I’m also a little bit of a science geek?

It is difficult to reach out for help when we live in a world where we always have to be strong, fearless, and show no emotion. Many of us grow up in households where we are taught not to cry, not to complain, and “move-on” with our lives, even when something tragic happens. I am here to tell you, you don’t always have to show a “tough” face. It’s okay to show emotions and to cry after a long day. We all have a story to tell, and I am here to listen to your story. In therapy we will process difficult situations that have happened in your life, in a safe space without judgment.

As a therapist I have experience in working with school aged children, adolescents, young adults, and older adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, and anger management. I also have experience in crisis intervention and working with clients and their families in safety planning. I utilize different interventions to guide clients in self-discovery, problem solving, and strive to make a positive change in their mood and behaviors.

I use different approaches in therapy to help clients reach their goals. It can range from using different theories such as attachment based, strengths based, and psychodynamic. I will also use cognitive behavioral therapy to challenge negative thinking patterns and help you see the bigger picture. I am very humanistic in my work and will use interventions that will help clients discover awareness, acceptance, and find meaning in their life.

I received my master’s degree in Social Work from CSU Long Beach. My training is mostly in community mental health through field based work. My interests include spending time with my dogs, traveling often to tropical places, and binge watching comedy shows.

Finding relief from the pain that brought you to therapy is often a private, emotional, and challenging experience.  A non-judgmental and supportive therapy style that's balanced with directness and honesty can go a long way in keeping you engaged and finding the relief you seek. One of the most rewarding experiences I get as a therapist is being invited to join with the client in those challenging places because I know how hard it is to trust.

I work with clients across the victim spectrum (clients who have harmed others to those who have been victimized).  The issues I've had the most success treating has been trauma (EMDR fully trained), PTSD, power and control issues, substance abuse, intimate partner and family violence/maltreatment, youth and adult male issues, and anger.

My love for psychology and helping others started as a way for me to understand my own pain and the mistakes that followed.  It's been liberating to experience my own changes through this work and an honor to see the strength that people find within themselves when I work with them.  I love to laugh, debate philosophy, run, practice yoga, and spend time with my wife and children.

Everyone has a unique story to tell and life's journey to go on. I believe in the power of therapy work because it allows us to have the platform to share those stories and build strength and resiliency to navigate through our journeys.

Oftentimes, people come to therapy because they may feel “stuck” or have difficulty seeing past their ongoing life obstacles. As a marriage and family therapist, I see therapy as a collaborative process where you are the expert to your story while my role is to serve as a guide to help you uncover and process your inner strengths and potentials. It is a time where you will learn more about yourself and how you relate to the people, places, and things you encounter in your daily life. It is also a time where you may make adjustments in order to achieve better quality of life. I utilize a strength-based and person-centered approach in my sessions to create a safe and genuine environment for you to be heard. I look forward to meeting and walk alongside you, as you take your steps towards growth and healing.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of California and New York. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Connecticut and my Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seton Hall University. Another night at home. Initially sheltering in place may not have been so bad, but the longer it goes on without the availability of your natural outlets --like the gym, friends, or nights out--things may have become harder. Perhaps you may be having thoughts or anxieties about the future. Or maybe this space has given you more time to think about your past. You don’t have to do this alone. I am here. We can do this together. Whether the discomfort is newly spurred by the pandemic or this feeling has been a lifelong companion, I can help you become grounded, find meaning, and experience peace.

I’m a personable, collaborative, and compassionate therapist who specializes in grief and loss, anxiety, and life transitions. My approach consists of creating an environment where you feel safe to communicate your feelings while feeling unconditionally understood and supported to discover the answers and solutions you are seeking.

I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and substance abuse. I have provided therapy in various settings: public mental health, family agencies, hospitals, school systems, and in private practice. I was given many opportunities to work with a wide range of severity of problems and challenges. These experiences provided me with ways to relate to my clients, regardless of circumstance or background, in a way where they can be heard and understood and provided a treatment that is meaningful to them.

I was born and raised in Los Angeles where I have had many ups and downs in my life. Hello, I'm Christine and I'm so glad you're here!

I am a licensed psychotherapist and have been practicing therapy for over a decade. I love doing therapy because it works! When you share deep inner struggles, thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a safe therapeutic space, healing and growth happen. I've seen this time after time in my own practice.

I specialize in helping individuals who struggle with anxiety, perfectionism, and high-achieving working professionals and entrepreneurs. If you are one of them, you often also struggle with intense anxiety around performance, are highly critical of yourself, and have difficulty with work and life balance. I can help you cultivate a healthier relationship with yourself and your work, resulting in greater happiness, self-compassion and inner peace.

I also specialize in working with couples who feel distant and disconnected, struggling with emotional disconnect, communication issues, and life transitions. If you feel stuck in a cycle of interaction with your significant other that leaves you feeling distant, unsatisfied and unhappy, you don't have to stay there. Working from an attachment standpoint, I can help you identify the root cause of your unhealthy relational patterns and help you feel closer and connected with your significant other.

Aside from being a psychotherapist, I am a wife and mother of three beautiful boys. In my personal time, I love to read on my Kindle and play with my boys at the park.

As our office manager, I oversee the billing operations of the practice. I also focus on new ways to help Abundance Therapy Center grow, stay committed to helping our clients, and provide the best experience possible when visiting our office. I enjoy assisting our clients and staff, and always looks forward to talking with familiar friends of Abundance.

In my personal time, I like to to visit with my loved ones, and explore new hobbies. Staying physically active is important to me such as hiking near a waterfall or a Friday night softball game with family. I believe everything is better with music.

KARINA DIAZ

Care Coordinator

I was born in Riverside but relocated to Los Angeles in the beginning of 2020 to further my education in the healthcare field. My grandfather was the light of my life and when he passed I decided I wanted to work in a field that would help people and show them I care. As care coordinator, I assist clients in scheduling their first appointment with their therapist, helping to match them with the therapist who will best fit their needs. I help maintain the therapists’ schedules, spread the word to other health practitioners about the variety of services our therapists offer, and support the office in administration. If you would like to set up your intake appointment with one of our therapists for the first time, I’m happy to help you.

I am currently a full time student pursuing my BA in Psychology. I plan to obtain a Masters and Doctorates degree in Occupational Therapy. Some of my hobbies include reading mystery books, collecting records and spending time with my family as well as my fur baby.

ERIN BATALI

Care Coordinator

I am a Los Angeles native who has worked in nonprofit administration and as a musician since graduating college. I earned a B.S. in Music from the University of Oregon in 2017. Since returning to Los Angeles, my interest in and passion for mental health has grown, and I now plan to pursue a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I also perform as a mezzo-soprano, singing with local opera productions and as a church choir section leader.

In my role at Abundance, I manage insurance credentialing for our therapists to ensure that they are available to see a wide range of clients. I also maintain all of our online profiles and social media to spread the word about Abundance. I support the practice owner and office manager with administrative needs, ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes so we can provide the best and most effective care possible to our clients.
