Allison Marx, LMFT

Hi, I'm Allison!

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who came to this field of work because I am passionate about helping people navigate life challenges to embrace their true selves and live authentically. That is not always easy to do in this world. I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is key to creating meaningful change, and I strive to make this a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel empowered to explore, grow, and get to know yourself better.

My therapeutic style is warm, client-centered, and collaborative. I will work with you to customize our sessions to support your needs and goals in therapy. My approach is trauma-informed and incorporates Psychodynamic and Humanistic therapies along with mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, and Art Therapy. I specialize in working with the LGBTQIA+ community and with clients in polyamorous/ethically non-monogamous relationships, providing affirmative, kink/BDSM-aware, and sex-positive therapy.

I received my Master’s degree in Marital and Family Therapy with Specialized Training in Clinical Art Therapy from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, and my Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from Sarah Lawrence College in New York. Prior to becoming a therapist, my career was in film and tv production, and now I enjoy working with creative professionals who are seeking a therapist who understands the stressors unique to their fields. When I am not in the office, I am often enjoying the great outdoors - hiking, camping, or riding my bicycle to the beach. And I love getting lost in a good book or tv series.

I look forward to meeting you and joining you on this journey!
