Hi! I’m Helena.

I received my MA in Counseling Psychology from Cal Poly Humboldt in 2020 and am a registered associate marriage and family therapist. I have experience working with individuals
and groups of various backgrounds within different clinical settings. I have a special interest in working with children and adolescents, as I feel early intervention can change a child's
developmental path and improve outcomes for themselves, their families and communities.

I utilize an integrated treatment style with clients, which allows me to work with a wide variety of challenges. I have studied and practiced different theories in my training such as CBT, DBT, ACT and my approach to therapy is heavily influenced by psychodynamic depth work. I feel that long-term therapy is one of the best methods to ensure psychological support in today's fast paced, overwhelming world, and that its benefits come through consistency over time.

I've always had an interest in human nature and what makes someone who they are. As a client in my own personal therapy, I've found that honesty and willingness to explore who I am have helped me foster greater compassion and move beyond recurring problematic cycles. It also has helped me understand how challenging and uncomfortable it can feel to be vulnerable and show up for ourselves. In turn, this is part of what I hope to help create with my clients while taking an individualized approach to each person I work with. Healing, to me, is a life-long process, and we all have areas within ourselves that can be better understood.
